Barista

Job brief

  • Promotes coffee consumption, selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies.
  • Provide an excellent guest drinking experience. Good barista will be able to create classic and innovative drinks exceeding customers’ needs and expectations.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea.
  • Educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers as they enter.
  • Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients.
  • Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)..
  • Prepare beverages following recipes.
  • Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins.
  • Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards).
  • Keep the bar area clean.
  • Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates.
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items.
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
  • Clean bars, work areas, and tables.
  • Submit Order Sheet or requisition beverages and supplies to Asst. Restaurant Manager.
  • Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Supervise the work of bar staff and other barista.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Plan bar menus.
  • Create drink recipes.
  • To attend meetings as required .
  • To ensure and maintain good relations with clients and team members.
  • To achieve strong effective selling and to maintain records of all trainings conducted .
  • Willing to share freely knowledge, information, ideas and experience to assist others.
  • Understands the needs to work together to create an environment of cooperation and mutual responsibility.
  • Shows awareness / sensitivity/ tolerance towards cultural differences by moderating own cultural behaviors.

  • Wrap, label, or date food items for sale.
  • Take out garbage.
  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Requirements

  • Resume and proven working experience as a barista.
  • Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean.
  • Relevant training certificate.
  • Hands-on experience with brewing equipment.
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations.
